regarding filling up column of primary occupation in ds form 160

Question on immihelp.com

At present I am employed and also studying so what should I fill in the primary occupation in the ds 160 form .
I want to apply for b1/b2 visa in order to attend a conference.

AVS response:

  1. While applying for USA visitor visa, If you are studying while you are working, or if you are studying and working it is best to mention your primary occupation as work. The fact that you are working and supporting your studies is not an unknown phenomenon for a US Counselor.
  2. Also since you are doing both it represents stronger ties with India, It is always difficult to leave your studies specially you have work and migrate to USA.
  3. Irrespective of your conference being professional or educational your primary occupation will remain work.
