No Exit stamp in India while travelling to US

Question on immihelp.com

My mother-in-law came to US in tourist visa but while leaving India there was no exit stamp in her passport. What should I do to get the exit stamp? Will it impact while entry to India on returning to India?

AVS Response:

  1. Please check all the pages in the passport, Indian immigration officers have a habit of stamping where they please.
  2. If there is no stamp, This can be a problem: Not that immigration records in India would not have that registered in their computers that your mother in law left the country. however you do not have any proof that you left through legal means. Kindly contact the Indian embassy in US and report the issue citing the passport number of your mother in law, date of travel, Entry stamp in US etc.
This will help you have sufficient evidence when your mother in law re-enters India and is stopped.
